Café Royal to Wrap You in Gold with Its New Hammam Spa Treatment
Luxury Launches - Akasha Holistic Wellbeing Centre is bringing a fine treat for tired guests of London’s Hotel Café Royal with a special gold hammam treatment, claiming to make skin shimmer, and drive away any signs of ageing.
Developed by cosmetic artisan spa brand La Sultane de Saba, the 23 Carat Gold Signature Hammam will help prevent the signs of ageing and leaves skin glowing. Gold was also apparently used in Ayurvedic medicine for its “healing qualities and ability to bring elasticity to the skin.”
The treatment will include four steps lasting between 75-90 minutes. First a mixture of 23 carat gold, mother of pearl and caviar extract is applied on the body and face. Then begins the exfoliation where the full body is cleansed with a black soap with gold minerals using a traditional “kessa” glove. The face is then cleansed with a 23 carat gold jelly and exfoliated with 23 carat gold anti-ageing scrub combining micronized pearls and corundum extract. The experience is complete by a Pure Lava Clay & Gold hair treatment to remove impurities, smooth and condition the hair and scalp.
It doesn’t end there. After this fine treatment, guests can make a choice between a Gold Back Massage or a Mini Gold Facial. The former uses 100% pure shea butter with oil of choice which is “steeped with gold minerals”. The latter is an anti-ageing massage using luscious honey and gold balm.
The treatment is compared to the likes that Cleopatra would have indulged in, had she existed. The “ritual” ends with a ceremonial mist which is a whiff of fresh mint tea and sweet pastry.
The treatment costs £140 ($198) for 75 minutes and £160 ($227) for 90 minutes.
