Midsummer Celebrations At The Swedish Palace with Mert Fırat
Last Friday Swedish Consulate General in Istanbul together with Swedish Research Institute and Sweden Alumni Network Turkey organised Sunny Speaker Series Midsummer Reception featuring Mert Fırat, a popular male actor who starred in numerous popular TV series in addition to a successful list of movies as well as being the founder and the spokes person for a disruptive social impact initiative İhtiyaç Haritası.
The event started of with a brief introduction by Didem Özalp as the representative from the Swedish Consulate followed by our Founder and Managing Partner Rana Babaç's call to Sweden Alumni Network members for increased cooperation and Mert Fırat's inspiring speech.
More than 100 people attended the event which was followed by a chic cocktail reception where our guests had the chance to mingle and continue their conversations with Mert Fırat with a more relaxed setting.
At the end of the event Rana Babaç - also the founder and the president of Sweden Alumni Network- was given a bouquet of flowers for her dedication, continued work and support in making the network a vibrant and beneficial community for the members.
Apart from Christmas, midsummer, midsommar is the most important holiday in the Swedish calendar. And for some, the very most important. The successful midsummer never-ending lunch party formula involves flowers in your hair, dancing around a pole, singing songs while drinking unsweetened, flavoured schnapps and downing a whole load of pickled herring, sill served with delightful new potatoes, chives and sour cream. All in all? A grand day out.
