ISTANBUL – The Marie Claire Türkiye Fragrance Awards, considered a milestone in the industry by combining Turkey’s rich scent heritage with a modern perfumery vision, have been held in a grand ceremony. Organized by Marie Claire Turkey, the country's first licensed magazine, this special evening marked a refined and visionary step in its 38-year publishing history.
Marie Claire Türkiye Fragrance Awards - Honoring the Invisible Power of Scent
In the opening speech, Serli Gazer, Editor-in-Chief of Marie Claire Türkiye, emphasized that perfume serves as a personal "signature":
"Scent is memory; scent is a trace. It is your signature that speaks before you do when you enter a room. Tonight, we honor the most elegant and lasting form of beauty—the invisible but unforgettable power of perfume."
Gazer stated that the project's primary goal is to showcase Turkey’s centuries-old scent traditions and production power within a well-deserved international framework.
From Ancient Heritage to Modern Design
Dr. Rana Babaç Çelebi, the spokesperson and referee for the awards, highlighted the deep scent memory of the region during her address:
"We are the heirs of a vast natural laboratory where incense was burned for worship and healing, and where Dioscorides recorded medicine and perfume recipes. Every award given here tonight represents the latest point of an ancient understanding of elegance and well-being that filters through thousands of years of smoke, distilled aromatic waters, and elegant crystal bottles. Scent is an invisible bridge that connects a person to the history of their land and their soul to the world of senses."
A Powerful Testament to How Turkish Fragrance Industry Has Seamlessly Connected to High International Standards
"In my experience, the true depth of a fragrance goes beyond its cultural roots. It is about the quality of the composition that allows for a vibrant, individual encounter. Maintaining this commitment to authenticity and a distinct "Handschrift" is what I believe remains essential on a global scale. Standing on that stage for the ceremony was a powerful testament to how the Turkish fragrance industry has seamlessly connected with these high expectations. Gathering with esteemed colleagues from London and Paris reinforced this shared journey of excellence." said Jörg Zimmermann Senior Perfumer at Dr. Hauschka and Vice President of the DGP (German Society of Perfumers)
