Gucci Makes A Commitment to Go Fur-free

Vogue - Marco Bizzarri, CEO of Gucci, has announced that the brand is ready to go fur-free. The dramatic announcement was made at the 2017 Kering Talk at the London College of Fashion, where Bizzarri revealed that he had been in talk with the company’s Creative Director Alessandro Michele and the two had decided to do away with fur moving forward.

He went on to explain that due to advancements in technology, fur alternatives could be just as luxurious as the real thing, so there was just need to keep using fur. As part of the Fur Free Alliance the brand has promised not to “use, promote, or publicize animal fur” in their collections. The ban will include mink, coyote, raccoon dog, fox, rabbit, and karakul (otherwise known as Swakara, Persian lamb or astrakhan) and all others species specially bred or caught for fur.
